Two-factor authentication, or 2FA as it's commonly abbreviated, adds an extra step to your e-mail log-in procedure.
With 2FA, you enter in your username and password at the first step of the login. Then, you will be prompted to enter a 6-digit code generated by an app installed on your smartphone.
